The trade deadline has passed and the dust is settling, which is mostly just a poetic way of saying we are looking at a new spreadsheet of names. Jock Landale is here now. He is being called Cash Considerations, which is a nickname typically reserved for a stack of hundreds or a digital bank transfer, but for now, it's him.
He apparently impressed his new teammates before he even touched down at Pearson. That sounds like a lot of pressure, being impressive while you are still in a pressurized metal tube over the Midwest. Most of us just try to finish the bag of pretzels without dropping them.
Watching the Pacers, Again
Pascal Siakam is back in the city but he is wearing a different shirt. He spent his day off giving back to the community, which is nice because the community is mostly just people wondering why the wind feels sharper on Tuesdays. We play the Pacers today at 3:00pm on TSN.
It is Super Bowl Sunday, a day usually reserved for buffalo wings and commercials about insurance. The NBA decided to schedule a game right in the middle of it. It is a bit like having a dentist appointment during your own birthday party, but at least there is basketball to look at.
Celebrities and Other Oddities
Brandon Ingram is out here helping GloRilla practice for the Celebrity All-Star Game. This feels like a fever dream I would have after eating too much takeout. It is a good reminder that basketball is a game, but it is also a thing where famous people try to dribble while we watch.
I think back to simpler times, like when Maceo Baston was on the roster. Life was manageable then. Now, we are tracking flight paths and wondering if Jock Landale can solve things that probably cannot be solved by one person. Everything is spinning, but that is just the rotation of the earth, or maybe Pascal is just doing his signature move in our hearts.
