The Raptors are looking for a role player. It is late March, and the market is essentially a garage sale where the only things left are cracked humidifiers and DVDs of movies that did not win any awards.
There is some talk about Cole Anthony. He is a point guard who has been averaging 6.7 points and 3.5 assists over 35 games this year. He does not shoot the three particularly well, but apparently he is more efficient than Jamal Shead, which is a low bar that we are currently trying to walk over without tripping.
The Injury Report and Other Mysteries
Chris Boucher is questionable for the game against the Suns tomorrow. It feels like we are always checking on his availability, much like how my uncle checks the weather forecast for a trip he is not actually taking.
If Boucher cannot go, the rotation becomes even thinner. The front office is likely staring at the waiver wire and wondering if anyone from the 2007 draft class is still mobile. We just need bodies that can stand in the correct place for roughly twenty minutes.
Nikola Jokic: Associate Official
There is a photo going around of Nikola Jokic talking to the referees as if he is their supervisor. He looks like he is giving them a performance review in the middle of a game. It is a strange thing to see, a player essentially coaching the officials on how to do their jobs.
Maybe we should try that. Our guys usually just look disappointed when a whistle blows, but Jokic looks like he is explaining how to file a tax return. It is very calm, very methodical, and deeply confusing to witness from a distance.
Watching Other People Fail
It was a good night for people who enjoy watching our rivals suffer. Luke Kennard hit a game-winning three against Orlando, which is something that happened. Then Amen Thompson had a game-winning tip-in for Houston against Miami.
- Orlando lost to a Luke Kennard jumper.
- Miami lost after nearly choking a lead.
- The Raptors move up by staying exactly where they are.
