The Velocity of Mistake Management

Brandon Ingram is questionable for the game against Dallas because of an illness. I am not sure if it is a cold or something he ate, but being questionable is a difficult state of being. You are neither here nor there, like a car idling in a driveway.

Collin Murray-Boyles is still out, according to the people who track such things. Michael Grange says he is doing conditioning work, which is just a fancy way of saying he is running around without a basketball. It is a lonely way to spend a Saturday in March.

Jonathan Mogbo and the two-way players have been sent to the 905 in Mississauga. It is a short drive, but it feels like a different world over there. I hope they find what they are looking for by the 403.

The Problem With Being Fast

The Raptors are currently in a hurry to fix the mistakes they make when they are in a rush. It is a bit like trying to catch a glass you dropped by swinging your arms wildly and knocking over a lamp. We want to be fast, but sometimes we are just vibrating in place.

Speed is a strange thing in basketball. If you go too fast, the hoop starts to look moving, even though it is bolted to a piece of glass. My uncle says that if you rush a stew, it tastes like nothing, and the Raptors are currently a very fast stew that needs more salt.

Sunday Evening Logistics

We are playing the Mavericks at 6:00pm tonight. This is an early start for a Sunday, which means you have to plan your dinner around the third quarter. It disrupts the natural flow of a weekend, but the NBA schedule waits for no one, not even a roast chicken.

The Mavericks are coming to town, and they usually bring a lot of problems with them. Luka Doncic is one of those players who looks like he is moving in slow motion while everyone else is sprinting, yet he still gets where he wants to go. It is very frustrating to watch, like a guy who always finds the shortest line at the grocery store.

Observations From the Perimeter

We will see what happens tonight. Or we won't. Either way, the game will be played and someone will win, and then we will all go to sleep and do it again. That is just how the calendar works.
