The Wizards, the Huskies, and the Impending End of Everything

The Raptors just beat the Washington Wizards with a final score of 134 to 125. It was a game that happened on a Saturday night, which is usually when people proceed to do things they later regret, like buying overpriced gin or watching the Wizards play defense.

We won the game, but there is a general feeling in the air that it might actually be over. I am not sure what it is exactly, but the internet seems to think the end is near. Perhaps it is the heat death of the universe, or maybe we just realized that winning against Washington is like finding a dollar on the sidewalk that has been stepped on several times.

The Blue Period

Someone recently asked if they were the only person who liked the blue Toronto Huskies jerseys. It is a valid question, mostly because humans are biologically programmed to like the color blue, except when it reminds them of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Wearing a Huskies jersey is a bit like pretending your grandfather was a different person who owned a dog instead of being a dinosaur. It is confusing for the branding, but the jerseys were clean. I often wonder what the dinosaur thinks when we wear the dog clothes.

Free Stuff and Final Scores

People are out here giving away Raptor swag for free. This is usually what happens right before a move or a spiritual awakening. You realize you own fourteen different hats with a red circle on them and you start to question your life choices.

If you are looking for swag, now is the time. It is a buyer's market for nostalgia. Just like the game thread tonight, everything feels a bit temporary. We scored 134 points, which is a lot of points, but the Wizards scored 125, which is also a lot of points for a team that is essentially a group of guys who just met at the airport.

I used to have a souvenir cup from the 2019 parade. I kept my loose change in it until the bottom fell out. That felt like a metaphor for something, but I was too tired to figure out what. We beat the Wizards, and tomorrow the sun will probably come up over the Gardiner Expressway, assuming the smog allows it.
